Paper of the Week: Fishing Poles

It's Friday, Paper Crafters, and you know what Friday at Creations Galore means. We've got a new Paper of the Week for you! Haven't heard of Paper of the Week yet? Our store has 10,000 square feet of scrapbooking and card making techniques. We know how overwhelming that can be. Therefore, each week we choose a new paper to show off, giving you the opportunity to say, "They have that?!"

This week's pick is called Fishing Poles by Karen Foster Design. The 12x12 patterned paper features a collage of fishing poles, bait, and tackle boxes. This is perfect for all your fishing-themed pages and projects. We love it for masculine themed cards too!

Layout Tuesday: Fall Leaves

Happy November, Paper Crafters. We're in the heart of fall here in Wisconsin, with the leaves full of gorgeous color! Therefore, we've got all things fall related on our mind. For today's Layout Tuesday, we're sharing an older layout... One of the very first pages Nicole ever created. 

How fun is this?! Nicole used the Cricut to cut out this tree and leaves from cardstock. She then layered the leaves in a fun fall pile at the base of the tree, with a few leaves "flying" around the page. Looking at the page four years after its creation, Nicole points out the missing title, date, and journaling. But she still loves that tree!

Layout Tuesday: The Colors of Autumn

Thank you for joining us for Layout Tuesday! Today we have a gorgeous layout from our Creative Genius, Nicole. She used the Harvest Collection from We R Memory Keepers to document fall themed photos. Let's take a look... 

I really wanted the photos, taken near my cabin in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, to be the focal point of the layout. Therefore, the embellishments are very minimal. I added the photos to a few layers of vellum and cardstock. The Harvest Collection's patterns and colors fit perfectly with my photos. I took a few sheets from the 6x6 paper pad, cut them in half, and layered them above and below the photos. 

To secure the embossed stickers and add some texture, I stitched through each of them with my sewing machine. There were so many great titles and images included in the sticker sheet, it was hard to pick just a few!

Layout Tuesday: Off-Road

Hello Scrapbookers! Nicole, here, with another Layout Tuesday! Thank you for joining us. Today's layout focuses on my younger brother and his precious ATV that was handed down to him. 

I started with this base paper by Karen Foster Design. The dirty trails are a great base for any outdoors-themed layout. I grabbed the matching cardstock stickers too!

As you can see in the picture above, I layered almost every cardstock sticker in the set onto the page! The chipboard number was a scrap found in my stash that fit perfectly with my 3-wheeler layout! 

I really wanted to add lots of texture to the layout. Therefore I used the Tim Holtz Distressing Tool to distress the edges of the photo mat and background papers. Core'dinations cardstock was used so a hint of red would show in the distressed areas, tying in the red of the ATV.

In addition to texture, I added dimension as well. To have the picture stand out and sit higher than the chipboard number, I added foam risers to the back. My favorite is Scrapbook Adhesives 3D Foam Squares. These are harder than most risers and don't flatten after the page has been stored in an album. Therefore the dimension and shading is still easily seen while in a page protector. The circle sticker was also added with foam risers to balance out the layout.

Layout Tuesday: Father & Son

Hello paper crafters! Nicole, here, with a new layout on this Tuesday afternoon. A few weeks ago during Memorial Day weekend, you could have found me in the Wisconsin Northwoods enjoying the outdoors with my extended family. This also means lots of photos to scrap! I took a look around the new collections at Creations Galore and did a happy dance when I stumbled upon the Trail Mix collection from BoBunny. It's a soft vintage outdoor line that has the perfect palette for a weekend at the cabin, a picnic in the backyard, or a nature hike up the mountain. 

Look at those good lookin' boys. That's my dad working hard and my brother with the catch of the day.  The colors of the collection blend perfectly with the photos. 

I've used a combination of flat, paper stickers and three dimensional stickers for the layout. I love layering all of the different sticker embellishments BoBunny has to offer to create clusters around the page. I often back the sticker with a piece of scratch paper and add dimension with foam risers or by turning up the edges with my finger. 

For added movement and some extra masculinity, I distressed the edges of the photo mat. Each BoBunny sticker sheet comes with a set of alpha stickers. I used those to easily create a title as well as hide the year in an embellishment cluster.

Layout Tuesday: Get ready for ADVENTURE

Good morning, Scrapbookers! We have a new layout for you today from We R Memory Keeper's Design Team using their newest collection, Happy Campers. 

How cute is that?! It doesn't matter if you prefer sleeping outside under the stars or being snuggled up inside a cozy tent, camping is one of those adventures that appeals to most. Keep the adventure alive with the Happy Campers collection. This collection takes a whimsical and fun approach to camping with icons reminiscent of hiking, star gazing, camp fires, and who couldn't resist - smores. Look for an earthy color pallet mixing various shades of brown with a light touch of green and aqua. This collection also features a variety of textures that would be seen during any outdoor adventure.

Creations Galore Gal, Megan Daul: Albums Made Easy

Hello crafters! Are you ready to see some projects from Creations Galore's talented customers? Today we're showcasing a gorgeous layout from Megan Daul. Megan, from Green Bay, WI, has attended a few classes at the store, as well as being a regular at our Crop Nights. You can find her blogging about her creations at Creative Happiness.

How fun is this layout? Megan started off with a traditional page on the left hand side using cardstock and patterned papers. She then added an Albums Made Easy page by We R Memory Keepers to quickly create two more pages! Here the flip side of the Album Made Easy page:

We just have to bring attention to some of the wonderful details these pages hold.

This cute tree was cut from the AccuCut die cutting tool available to our customer's in our Crop Room. She decorated the die cut with Lime Green and Cinnamon Stickles.

Take a look at Megan's blog, and you will see that she loves to add ribbons to her pages. Here she added some Baker's Twine with Glossy Accents.

Megan brought some dimension to each layer of paper by outlining the edges with brown ink. She even brought the glittery buttons to life by adding brown floss. You'll find glitter in another part of her page - the title! Megan used Thickers from American Crafts, another Creations Galore favorite.

Lastly, we want to point out the fun details she added to the Albums Made Easy page. Megan cut kraft paper with a Spellbinders Die. She then stamped some beautiful trees with brown ink and accented them with the Stickles again. So clever! We love how she incorporated stamping into her scrapbook pages.

In My Garden - Layout Tuesday

Good afternoon bloggers! Nicole here, sharing another layout using goodies found at Creations Galore.

The color scheme of this page came from the sticker set by Martha Stewart Crafts called Gardening Stickers. It was love at first sight. The stickers are dimensional and way too realistic! The gloves are made of fabric, the rain boots are shiny, the flowers add just a hint of sparkle, and my favorite part: THERE ARE REAL SEEDS IN THE SEED PACKET! Talk about bringing your pages to life! 

I love the look of kraft paper. It coordinates with all colors and brings a natural, homemade, gritty essence to projects. I like to highlight the paper using a opaque white pen, creating faux stitching for this layout. You could recreate this technique with any pen or marker you have on hand... and go crazy with different styles. Add dots in between your lines, create multiple solid lines, or try out some x's... The results are endless. 

Feel free to turn to sticker letters, your Cricut, or creative fonts on your computer when creating a title and journaling. But I just love handwriting on pages and mini albums. It's so personal in our technology filled world. When adding doodling to my projects, I turn to my Sakura Gelly Roll Pens, ZIG Writers, or Tombow Brush Markers. For today's title, I first wrote 'in my garden' with the fine point tip of the Tombow Marker. Next I wrote it again, adding in thick pieces to be colored in with the brush tip.
