Layout Tuesday: You're A Star

Hello Paper Crafters! We're here today sharing a layout using drama themed stickers from Karen Foster Design.

Our layout came together quickly using the 12x12 Performance Collage patterned paper, matching American Crafts cardstock, and Show Business Cardstock Stickers. We used a small portion of the patterned paper, adding border strips of black cardstock. Our favorite white pen was used to add faux stitching.

The stickers were great for embellishment clusters and the title. The two spotlights included in the package were added to the top of the layout. We added a black line with a ZIG Writer to anchor them to the page.

A few lines for journaling, and this layout is complete!

*The photos used on this layout were taken by Megs Colleen. You can find more of her work here.

Layout Tuesday: Big Sister

Good afternoon, scrapbookers, and welcome to another edition of Layout Tuesday here on the Creations Galore blog where we bring new inspiration each week. Today's layout comes from the We R Memory Keepers' Design Team and can be found here.
The layout features one of WRMK's newest collections, Little One. The collection features woodland creatures, whimsical patterns, and pastel colors. With the title, Little One, you can be sure there are plenty of pieces to document your bundle of joy.

A few of the embellishments on this layout quickly caught our eye. First, the blocks along the right hand side spelling out the word LOVE were cut from the 12x12 Building Blocks paper. The paper is makes for a perfect background for baby, child, and school themed items, but we're excited over the idea of spelling out names and other words for our spreads. The phrase along the bottom was also cut from a 12x12 paper, called First Words. Affordable, fun embellishments!

Thank you for the great inspiration, WRMK. Stop into Creations Galore at 3154 Coronet Way in Green Bay, Wisconsin to see the full Little One Collection, or shop our online store by clicking the products below.

Layout Tuesday: Hello Love

Good morning, Scrapbookers! Today's layout inspiration comes from the Studio Calico gallery using We R Memory Keepers' Inked Rose Collection, and it's STUNNING.

Evelyn's layout is so beautiful, and her use of the WRMK collection had us stop in our tracks. She used square risers to pop up several elements of her layout, including stickers. We can't get enough of the dimension and movement on the page. In addition to stickers, she cut out butterflies and triangles from the 12x12 papers.

You can see more pictures and details about her layout here. As always, here are a few of the products used on the page. Stop into Creations Galore for more inspiration and to see the full Inked Rose Collection.

Thank you for the beautiful inspiration today, Evelyn! We can't wait to try out a few techniques on our next page.

Layout Tuesday: Creating A Visual Triangle

Happy Tuesday, Scrapbookers! It's Nicole here today, after searching the vault of Creations Galore layouts to find a page to share. And did I ever find a cute one - A simple layout documenting the girls' first look at the Disney Castle.

After printing photos of this trip, I interviewed the girls. I simply scrolled through the photos with them, asking questions and listening intently as they reminisced about their experience. Helen's innocent reaction to seeing the castle, telling me how she almost fainted, and that she looked to her uncle to catch her, had me laughing. Therefore, I made sure to add those personal memories to the journaling of each page.

In addition to the journaling, I want to point out the visual triangle created with embellishments and color. The embellishments were created with a small assortment of punches, scrap pieces of paper, and rhinestones. Haven't heard of visual triangles? Let's chat about that...

Scrapbooking, while there is no right or wrong way to do so, incorporates a few basic design principles - Using odd numbers, creating visual triangles, creating a focal point, rule of thirds, and more. You may use some of these rules already, just instinctively. However, your pages will come together easier as you become aware of them and put the rules into practice.

Today, we're going to highlight visual triangles. As you create your layout, try to envision three cohesive points that can be connected to form a triangle. Your eye will subconsciously look for this completion in design, allowing our eyes to see the page as a whole rather than becoming distracted by one or two items on the page.

There are several ways to create a visual triangle on your pages, through photos, color, journaling, shapes, clusters, or texture. The layout today shows two visual triangles. The first I wish to point out is through embellishment clusters.

A visual triangle helps to focus the viewer's eye; therefore, arrange the elements to form a triangle around the most important pieces of the page. The first triangle surrounds the journaling and the two girls.

Try placing a finger over one of the embellishment clusters. The page suddenly seems to be missing something. Use a finger to point at a fourth area on the page and imagine that was an additional cluster. Does it seem like too many embellishments? Does the page seem imbalanced? Creating a visual triangle on your layouts creates a more visually pleasing page.

The second triangle uses color. I used blue paint to color chipboard letters and blue alcohol ink to color clear rhinestones. This triangle keeps the focus on the journaling and photos while moving the eye around the page to the title along the bottom, further telling the story.

Open up your scrapbooks and see if you can point out any visual triangles you've instinctively created. Maybe you'll find a page or two where you can add or remove an element to create a more visually pleasing page. This design principle does not need to be incorporated into EVERY layout you create, but it's important to keep this knowledge in perspective the next time you scrap.

We'd love to see your visual triangles - Share your pages on our Facebook page. Happy crafting!

Layout Tuesday: Themed Papers Used In A New Way

Last Tuesday, we shared a layout documenting summer memories with the bright and colorful papers of the #Summer Collection. We came across a breathtaking layout using the same collection and just had to share it with you. This page by Ashley Fowler for American Crafts shows that the collection can be used for far more than summer themed pictures.

The layout's background is the #Roadtrip patterned paper. Ashley uses several other patterned papers to create additional circles on top of the pattern, adding photos, alphas, die cuts, stickers, and flair. You can see more of her process here.

Thank you for the great inspiration, Ashley! Have you ever used a themed paper in a new way?

Layout Tuesday: Beach Time

Why hello there. We're so excited to bring you scrapbooking inspiration in the form of this bright and sunny layout by Gina Lideros for American Crafts.

Gina used the #Summer Collection to create different diamond shapes. They shapes fill the 12x12 white cardstock. Two photos were cut in the same shape and placed inside, allowing the patterned paper to matte them. A few sticker and die cut pieces complete the page. See more of this fun layout and details on how it came together here.

Here are a few of our favorite pieces of the #Summer collection:

Are you documenting your summer activities? Try using a repeated shape in bright colors like today's inspiration.

Layout Tuesday: Journaling Cards on 12x12 Layout

We came across this layout by Nicole Harper on the We R Memory Keepers blog, and we instantly fell in love.

3x4 and 2x2 journaling cards from the Inked Rose Collection were used to create the grids in this layout. We love how they look layered together on this traditional 12x12 scrapbook page. The pops of gold from the Chalkboard Collection add a touch of glam. Nicole used foam squares to add even more dimension to the embossed stickers. See more of her process here.

Layout Tuesday: Homegrown Cuties

Good morning! We're blown away by today's layout inspiration from the We R Memory Keepers Design Team. The layout features the Farmer's Market Collection, papers perfect for documenting your family's summer adventures.
The background paper, Certified, is one of our favorites, sporting an authentic white wood. Additional patterned papers were hand torn and machine cut to build layers. A piece from the Journaling Cards Set was used as exactly that - a space for journaling. We love this use of pocket scrapbooking cards in traditional layouts. Embossed stickers surround the journaling and photo.

Beautiful layout. Beautiful collection. Stop into Creations Galore soon to view the entire Farmer's Market collection for yourself. As always, you can shop our online store by clicking the link below each item. Thanks for stopping by for Layout Tuesday!

Layout Tuesday: Blessed

Good morning, Paper Crafters! It's Tuesday, which means it's time to share a new layout with you. Today we're displaying a layout from We R Memory Keepers' Design Team using the Inked Rose Collection. This collection is one of our favorites, featuring lots of flowers and butterflies in blues and pinks. However, this layout contains NONE OF THEM. Say what?! We're going crazy over the use of the orange and grey in the collection.

The words are ripped from the Words 12x12 patterned paper. And we can't help but love the patterned paper circles coordinating with the ink splatters. So beautiful!
