An Eerie Tale: Home Decor

While roaming around the world wide web recently, we spotted this AMAZING project by Melissa of Millie Made. The beautiful book of fairy tales started out as something quite different. The make-over had us jumping for joy and ready to get our hands on the same Halloween collection from Graphic 45 that she used.

Customer Spotlight: Hanging Glitter Frame

Last month we had the privilege of having a special Scrapper at our Midnight Crop. McKayla took an ordinary wood frame and turned it into a beautiful piece of decor. 

To cover the frame, McKayla used Silver POW! Glitter Paper by American Crafts. The glitter is fused to the paper; therefore, none of the flakes fall off. It's perfect for all of your crafting needs, including home decor. No mess! 

She finished off the frame with fabric flowers, dimensional stickers, and bottle cap embellishments. The ribbon and flower at the top turn it into a hanging frame.

DIY Easter: Floral Eggs

Good morning! Today we're excited to share an Easter project with you - Gorgeous floral eggs! How lovely are these? We created them with plastic eggs, making this a decor item you can display over and over again!  

Gather your supplies: 

• Plastic or wood eggs (We found a set of 12 white plastic eggs at Walmart for less than $2)
• Flower punch (The flower we used is from EK Success)
• Liquid Adhesive (Glossy Accents is our favorite)
• Pearl Embellishments or Liquid Pearl Pen (Such as our favorite Viva Pens or Liquid Pearls)

Start with your egg base. Leave the eggs as is or add color with dye or paint. We loved the white on white look, leaving the first egg white and using white cardstock flowers. Next, punch out flowers from cardstock or patterned paper. We rounded the flower petals with our fingers for added dimension, but you can choose to leave yours flat. 

Start at the top of your egg and adhere each flower with a permanent liquid adhesive. Glossy Accents is our go-to. It's easy to use and dries quickly. Next, add a pearl to the center of each flower. A liquid pearl pen is the easiest and most affordable option. Simply squeeze a small amount of the medium onto the center of each flower. It will dry in under 10 minutes, creating a hard pearl. 

Now onto the hard part of this project - Deciding where to display them! Throw them into a bowl or glass hurricane, string them onto an Easter tree, or use them as place cards. So many options for these beautiful floral eggs! 

Glitter Easter Eggs

Good morning! Today we're sharing a fun project to help you decorate your home for Easter. These glitter eggs are so easy and fun to make! 

To get started, you'll need a few supplies:

• Plastic Eggs - We found a set of 12 white plastic eggs at Walmart for only $1.97
• Wet Adhesive - We love the fast drying, clear Glossy Accents
• Glitter - Distress Glitters are our go-to for sparkle

Simply add a strip of Glossy Accents to the plastic egg and spread it around. You can use the fine nib on the bottle or your finger. Sprinkle the glitter over the top of the wet adhesive, tap off the excess, and allow to dry. We found it was easiest to cover half the egg in glitter at a time. After that half was dry, we completed covering the rest of the egg in glitter. Glossy Accents has a quick dry time, so this process won't take too long! 

Distress Glitters have quickly become our favorite product for adding a little sparkle to projects. From Tim Holtz, the line complements other Distress products and mimics the look of vintage mica. Not only do these eggs look gorgeous covered in the thick chunks of glitter, the process was far less messy. We found that the Distress Glitters didn't have the same static cling properties as a super fine glitter, which meant we didn't end up with glitter all over our workspace, clothes, and face! You must give these new glitters a try.

Customer Spotlight: I Love You Frame

Hello Paper Crafters! Our customers are at it again! Nicole Weaver of Green Bay, Wisconsin created this LOVEly collage at a recent crop, and we needed to share it all with you! 

A gift for her hubby, the collage features three circular photos created easily with a Marvy punch. Nicole found the typewriter paper, trimmed it to size, and included it with a white cardstock mat. The hearts were created from the same white cardstock using smaller Marvy punches, with the most adorable faces stamped onto them from the Wide Eyed Kids Face Assortment by Peachy Keen Stamps. Nicole finished off the collage with glitter paper by Reminisce and secured it in an 8" x 10" frame.

DIY Wine Labels: Valentine's Edition

Good morning Paper Crafters! Are you getting ready for Valentine's Day? Whether you're hosting a party or attending one, we have a fun DIY idea for you! 

How great are these wine bottle labels?! Creations Galore offers the cardstock labels in 10 packs of cream or white. We started out with white cardstock labels and decorated them with the Head Over Heels collection by Bo Bunny Press.

We Love Valentine's Day: DIY Cupcake Toppers

Good morning, Paper Crafters! Creations Galore has welcomed new Valentine's themed stamps, stickers, and paper collections, and it has us excited about Cupid's special day! We're positive that these cupcake toppers will get you excited too! 

Gather your favorite valentine themed inks and stamps, strips of cardstock, and toothpicks! After stamping your design or sentiment onto the paper strips, wrap them around the toothpick. You can use double sided tape, a tape runner, or liquid glue to hold them in place. Leave as is or cut a triangle out of one end to create a pendant. Not a fan of stamping? No problem! Use border stickers or patterned paper strips to achieve the same look.

Alcohol Ink Coasters - Class Spotlight

Last Thursday, August 23rd, a group of creative ladies joined Nicole for an Alcohol Inks demonstration. Each person had glossy paper to practice various techniques. Once perfected, they created a set of 4 coasters. Here's a look into the class:

We went crazy over class attendee Ashley's use of alcohol inks, stamped sentiment background, and bright silver flowers (above).  

Look at those bright colors! This is a great project regardless of your age, style, or color choice! It was wonderful to see all the different ideas come to life. We had a great age range in the class... Art brought us all together!

Some students chose to make 4 completely different coasters, while others made complete sets. Above, Jasmine stamped the same images but used different alcohol ink colors. Julie created a winter scene, using Snow Cap, the only opaque alcohol ink.

Want to create your own set of coasters? Pick up glossy or matte tiles from your local hardware store. We found some at Menards for just 11 cents! You'll also need some alcohol inks. Autumn Is Here!

Hello bloggers! The leaves have started changing colors here in Wisconsin which has inspired me to make all kinds of autumn decor. Today I'm showing a little tutorial on making this beautiful (and easy!) banner...

First, you'll need to decide:

• What your banner will say
• The size and shape of each hanging piece
• Which papers and inks you'll use

For this banner, I started with the leaf die cuts - creating them with our Cricut's Designer's Calendar Cartridge. We've created extras and made them available at the store for anyone without a Cricut. However, you could use leaf stickers, stamps, or other die cuts you may have. 

Next, I used We R Memory Keepers Autumn Splendor papers. The collection has warm colors in fun patterns. Plus, a few had owls -- I have a soft spot for all things owls. We R Memory Keepers has four double sided papers in each collection that have a reverse side of four 6x6 designs. This is perfect for this project! Rather than buying 8-10 different papers, I only needed to buy 2 to have 10 different patterns! 

The bottom layer of each hanging piece was created with the Extra-Giga Marvy Lever Punch - creating a 3 1/2 inch scalloped circle out of the patterned papers. The next layer was created with the Mega Marvy Lever Punch - creating a 2 1/2 inch circle out of milkweed cardstock.

You can choose to assemble the pieces as shown; however, I chose to add some Distress Inks with the Foam Applicator Tool to add some warmth and dimension to each layer. The leaves and scalloped circles were both distressed with Black Soot, and the small circles and letters were distressed with Vintage Photo.

I created the letters using our AccuCut and Dies - available in our Crop Room. However, you could use chipboard letters, stickers, or any other dies you have available. For more information on using our dies, click here.

After distressing each letter, add foam risers and adhere to the assembled pieces. If you're using stickers and still want a raised effect, the Powder Tool by EK Success is an easy way to achieve the look. You'll first add the foam risers to the back of the sticker - don't remove the backing just yet. Next brush the Powder Tool over the back of the sticker. This will get rid of the stickiness. Now you can remove the riser's backing and adhere the letters to your banner. 

Lastly, punch a hole at the top of each piece and string together. You now have a beautiful banner to hang anywhere you'd like to add some fall warmth.
