Paper Of The Week: Head Start On Holiday Packaging

Hello bloggers! We hope you're having a great weekend so far. Because of our wonderful customers, we've been having a GREAT weekend ourselves. Yesterday and today we've enjoyed the sweet company of many scrapbookers working away in our crop room, card makers learning new techniques at our Make N Take station, and shoppers taking in all the new products we've received. Thank you so much for making us your go-to paper crafting store!

Let's continue all this paper fun, shall we?! We have so much paper here at Creations Galore, we're never sure if you'll be able to see it all! With 10,000 square feet of paper crafting goodies, we know it can be overwhelming. Therefore, every week we bring you another paper for your consideration.

Today, we're showing off Present, a 12x12 double sided paper from the Peppermint Collection by Crate Paper. You may not want to think about Christmas just yet, but it's only a few months away. If you're making your Christmas cards, gifts, or gift packaging, you'll want to take a peek at the Peppermint Collection. This paper that we've selected for today has a whole lot of tags to cut out and attach to your gifts. Boy, are they adorable! What do you think?

Layout Tuesday: Detour

Thanks for joining us for another Layout Tuesday. Today we're sharing a layout we've created using Detour, a new collection from Bo Bunny.

The layout features photos from Megs Colleen, documenting the details of a show while on the road. Detour is a great collection for scrapping moments like these, along with trips by car, bus, or plane. Not much of a traveler? The masculine colors and patterns inspire non-travel related layouts and cards as well.

The title was cut out on the Cricut and distressed with a black pigment ink pad. Detour includes a 12x12 sticker sheet with smaller alphas to add journaling, dates, and names.

The chipboard pieces are self adhesive and come from Detour's 12x12 Chipboard Sticker Sheet, full of 26 pieces in various sizes. Some of the pieces has places to journal where you've traveled! Check out the photo below:

Detour includes double sided papers, stickers, rub ons, chipboard pieces, and stamps. Stop into Creations Galore to see the full collection!

Layout Tuesday: Fall Family Fun

Why hello! It's Layout Tuesday here at the Creations Galore Blog. The temperature in Wisconsin, where we call home, has been dropping and the trees have been changing color. That can only mean one thing: Fall is on its way.

Bo Bunny's newest collections have multiple rub-ons, sticker sheets, adhesive letters, dimensional stickers, bling, and flowers to coordinate with their papers. The sticker phrases make it easy to add titles and journaling.

Quick Tip: Flower Soft Upcycle

Where are all my Flower Soft lovers? We have a quick tip to use while creating Flower Soft bundles. Haven't heard of Flower Soft? It's a wonderful product that will create a 3D effect and bring your cards to life. You sprinkle Flower Soft over glue like glitter, creating texture. It's perfect for snow scenes, nature, animals, and flower arrangements. You can see some examples here.

Today, however, I'm talking about flower bundles. Here's a few samples found in our store:

These bundles are quite easy to create. Flower Soft makes affordable wires that can be cut with any scissors and easily bent - No pliers or jewelry tools needed. Cut the wires to size, add tacky glue, sprinkle Flower Soft, and allow it to dry.

Here's where we insert our tip of the day! You don't want to set the wire on your table or craft mat with the risk of gluing it to your surface. And no one wants to hold a wire upright for 10 minutes while it dries! Our solution? Place the end without Flower Soft into an old sponge or leftover packaging:

The first picture is a small piece of foam placed in the bottom of most embossing folder packages. The second is the foam decorative brads are packaged in - This one already comes with holes! You can set your wire pieces nicely into the foam, allowing you to save time and have perfectly round, covered wires.

How do you store your wires while drying? Do you have any other uses for packaging supplies? We'd love to hear any fun tips you have!

If this post left you curious about Flower Soft, we encourage you to stop into the store or take a class. We'd love to teach you more about this great product!

Cupcakes Galore: A Paper Piecing Tutorial

Have you seen the birthday Make N Take available at Creations Galore this week? We've received many questions asking just how the cupcakes on this card were created, and Nicole is here today with a short tutorial on how you can make them!

Hello crafters! You'll need to gather some supplies.
  • Cardstock
  • Coordinating Patterned Papers
  • Birthday Sentiments
  • Cupcake Stamp
  • Black Ink
  • Markers
  • Square Punch
  • Adhesive

Begin by creating four squares from white cardstock and stamping a cupcake image on each square. This cupcake stamp is a Stamps by Judith Stubby. The stamp company creates super cute designs for all occasions in these small and affordable Stubby stamps. The Extra Jumbo Craft Punch from Marvy at a little over an inch is the perfect size for the Stubby designs.

Gather markers, colored pencils, or chalk to color the cherry, leaf, and cupcake liner.

Now for the paper piecing! Gather your patterned papers. Because the cupcake image is so small, most paper scraps work wonderfully for this step! Stamp the cupcake onto each of your patterned papers.

Cut out just the frosting part of the images and adhere to the squares. ZIG 2-Way Glue is my favorite adhesive for small pieces such as these.

If you're using the same Judith cupcake stamp, don't forget to go back and color the second leaf. Now you're ready to assemble the rest of your card! Here's one last look at the card we created with this technique:

Thanks for joining us today. Have you tried paper piecing? We hope you'll find ways to incorporate this fun technique into your paper crafting projects!
