Honeycomb Paper Tutorial

Thanks for joining us today. If you've been following along with our weekly Make N Takes, you'll know we're offering a card this week using Inky Antics Honey Pop Stamps and Honeycomb paper. The card is still available to create - Just stop in any time during store hours until this Saturday, March 23rd. Can't make it but are curious about this fun product? We've got a picture tutorial for you. Let's take a look:

You'll first need to gather a few materials such as ink, cardstock, and adhesive. The most important thing you'll need is an Inky Antics Honey Pop Clear Stamp Set and Honeycomb Paper. We've chosen the Easter Chick Set with the light Pink Honeycomb Paper. For your card base, cut a piece of cardstock to 5.5" x 8.5". For your every day card you would score right down the middle at 4.25". With this card, you'll need to create a small space for the honeycomb paper shape to open.

To do this, make two marks with a pencil along the 8-1/2" side at 4-3/16" and 4-5/16 (above). Next line the dots up with a notch on your score board, and score away! If you don't have two notches that line up perfectly, score the first line, move the paper, and score the second line.

Gather your Honey Pop stamps and stamp the egg (or other image) onto the Honeycomb Paper. Note: You will need to stamp the image so that the arrows run in the same direction. If you don't do this, the egg will not open correctly.

We stamped a sentiment and a few images on the inside of the card before adding the egg, such as this grass stamp from Stamps By Judith. We highly recommend coloring in any images before the next step as well. Place adhesive on only the left side of the Honeycomb Paper piece. Adhere the dotted line of the piece along the first scored line (below).

Next, apply adhesive to the right hand side of Honeycomb paper piece, fold the card shut, and press down to secure. Open up your card to reveal the image. Note: There is no adhesive on the spine of the pink piece or the card base between the two scored lines.

To finish our card, we gathered some spring papers from We R Memory Keepers' Simply Spring Collection.

To create the patterned chick, first stamp the image onto the card front. Re-ink your stamp, and press down onto a patterned paper. Cut out the patterned image and adhere it to the card front.

Let's take a look at the finished card:

Thanks for checking out our tutorial. We hope you're inspired to give this fun technique a try. Don't have any Inky Antics products? Stop into Creations Galore at 3164 Coronet Way in Green Bay, Wisconsin to recreate this card and more!

Layout Tuesday: Beautiful You

Good morning! It's time for another inspiring layout from Nicole's desk.

I love this picture of my momma. You'll recognize her as Creations Galore manager, Lori. My brother and I put together a fancy dinner at my apartment for her birthday last May. The picture contains colors that I couldn't match to any of my papers. You can just imagine my excitement when I discovered BoBunny's Prairie Chic Collection. It has the main colors of brown and yellow, as well as the light pink and blues that are hidden in that awkward towel hanging in the background! haha I really wanted to eat that cheesecake, so taking another picture without it there was not an option!

I used the Prairie Chic Brads throughout the layout. The true beauty brad looks like a vintage find.

Along with the brads, die cuts and stickers were used on the layout. Both the floral circle and beautiful you banner were stickers. To add dimension, I used the Powder Tool from EK Success to eliminate the stickiness. I then added foam risers to the backs and adhered them to the layout. In my Scrapbook 101 class, it's a common question as to why you would need to eliminate the stickiness. To answer that question, this layout is going into an album. If I were to leave it a sticker, when the book is closed, the sticker would squish onto the paper and STICK. You'll have an awkward sticker with little square risers underneath. Can you say ugly?! Using the powder tool allows the sticker to only cling to the foam applicator tool. When the album opens up to that page, the dimension will still be there.

We hope you're inspired by a few elements of this page. Stop into Creations Galore at 3164 Coronet Way in Green Bay, Wisconsin to see the layout up close, along with shop the entire Prairie Chic Collection!
