Ideas For Memory Keeping: Taking Portraits

Hello Memory Keepers! Today's tip is a simple one that explores WHERE and WHEN to take portraits.

Keep your eyes open for colored walls or buildings with unique textures. They make perfect backdrops for portraits. The photo below was a small piece of brick wall connected to a gas station. You never know when you'll find a great space. Simply move closer to grab the portrait or crop the surroundings out of the picture after taking. Alleys, older buildings, and industrial areas are other places to look.

We recommend taking that portrait on a cloudy day or an hour before sunset to avoid this face from your subject! Bright sunny days, while warm and delightful, create harsh shadows and squinty eyes.

New Cards In The Sample Bin

Where are the card makers? We have some exciting news for you. We've added to our tower of card samples. If you haven't browsed through the tower yet, we recommend stopping in soon.

Cards are added to the tower and no longer on display in the store for numerous reasons - The stamp set is no longer available for reorder, the paper collection is sold out, or the technique or style is not the current trend. All of those reasons may not sell product currently on our shelves, but that doesn't mean the cards aren't gorgeous and useful!

Repurpose the card samples by removing embellishments or images, send the cards as they are, or use them as inspiration for your next project. All cards are just $1.
